SoundCloud? More like SoundClown
Ive been an avid Soundcloud user for 2 years now. I think I got over my disappointment with the cut features as I began to encounter the website more often than the app. But since this a review of the app I dont want to undersell my disapproval of this app. (Fair enough Im using a 4S on iOS 9.35 and dont have soundcloud go). While there is no workaround to get all the features without paying (adblock is only good for removing ads on PC), I dont think its worth it.
Theres a war coming. In fact its been brewing over the years now over who is willing to stream music for the cheapest price with the most benefits. Soundcloud already gets beat by Spotify for the option of 320kbs. Souncloud is only at 192kbs (although admittedly does seem to have some sort of magic to make their streaming sound much better than that). Most people dont know you can go to play dot spotify dot com although that is only at 128kbs. Then you have apple and google music. Id probably be more inclined to pick up the google music as it also gives you YouTube Red and features for Youtube Music, but if you are an audiophile its not great beyond the phone with a pair of 32ohms subpar headphones. Tidal, Pandora, iHeart radio are all bleh. Id advocate just torrenting any exclusive tidal music just to make Kanye mad.
Weve gone on a tangent but I think its an important one. Adding ads to the platform was alright if it meant supporting artists. But then they want to compete with other streaming services with Souncloud go. They dont have a giant database of music, only current (mostly electronic) music producers. This of course getting rid of all the features the original Soundcloud app had. The only thing holding up Soundcloud is the small artist that will exclusively publish their music on there. Which is generally a shame since Beatport offers the FLAC option for people wanting to get the most of their listening experience.
Overall its very little good, more bad, and a lot of ugly bugs. I dont know if its just me using a iPhone 4S but I recently just had trouble searching for anything as it would come back as an "error". Theres this weird bug that will play the first 1-2 seconds of songs twice when a new one begins. Sometimes it will also double the track up and play it twice. Im ignoring general playback bugs since they dont seem to be that much of an issue.
I get the feeling the devs wanted to make sure that there were less features on the app for some functional reason but I cant say for sure.

Title: New Shiny Suit, no structure.
I just updated the new 3.0 version of the app. And at first was finding the interface clunky and with its fair share of bugs Im sure they will fix. An example: I just tried playing a track and a completely different song began to play. Luckily the old version where tracks would repeat listing again and again in a playlist is gone. They cleaned up well, made the app look extremely nice, it looks professional. Pausing is easy by just touching the screen, and behind the soundwave you can see the artwork as both pan while the song is playing. Every addition or reworking of the app just makes it more eyecandy and less practical. That can be sour or sweet. What I mean is that the comments are not viewable at this time, and making a comment isnt available. I wonder if this is being cut from the app for some reason? Also browsing stream view or anything besides search might be a little annoying having to browse through album covers that take up a fourth of the screen. Id say its an improvement, or I should say a future version of this app will be. I think once they have following updates, it will make good for this new bold remodeling.
