SoundCloud: Discover New Music App Reviews

I love SoundCloud and making playlists. However everything works except their “skip” button for ads. It’s so annoying when the ad is 30 seconds long and and after a few seconds you’re allowed to “skip” but only to realize it’s only there for prop because it never works. Also can we get an update where we can actually see our notifications??

For whatever reason you can’t change your username or profile picture. And you also can’t upload songs.

The app doesn’t update as frequently as desktop version. I constantly have to delete the app and re install so it will update my playlists and original music. Definitely will not pay for premium if the app is this buggy.

About a year ago I switched from Spotify to Soundcloud because i liked the apps functions a lot better. It was much smoother and had better options. However the March 19, 2018 update has caused a lot of issues for me. The app has become super laggy and freezes often. Really disappointed because i liked SC a lot! But if the app doesnt work, i really dont have any choice but to return to Spotify. Will not be renewing my subscription if these problems persist. :(

Prefer to use this over other apps, its not glitchy or filled with an excessive amount of ads.

Ive paid for SC for almost 2 years now and it blows my mind that this simple feature hasnt been made available. Yall better work on it fast.

*Update (3/31/18)* The app is way more stable since the last few updates. I am no longer experiencing multiple crashes a day. I also appreciate the revamped Discover section. It would be nice if we can rearrange the order of music that we save into playlists. (12/2017) SoundCloud is my go to music app for listening to tunes and finding new songs, and their partnership with HypeM can help expand your music taste and library. If you have a HypeM account, you can link your account with SoundCloud so that your liked songs on HypeM will also save onto a SoundCloud playlist. I spend a good chunk of time almost every night trying to find new music or just listening to songs that I have liked. It is great how you can follow artists, and see new songs they have released or songs that they like, which helps create a sense of community. The minor issue with this, which is not SoundCloud’s fault is that the songs shared tends to match the music genre of the artist sharing, which is expected. However, from my experience the most active music community is the electronic scene (mainly listen to electronic, pop, indie, and little bit of rock), so sometimes I get burnt out and want to find different music. SoundCloud does have a top charts section, which you can sort by genre, but because those songs are already popular, it’s not the best way to find emerging artists. SoundCloud has a feature that recommends similar songs you liked, but I rarely connect with the music presented to me. This is where the HypeM/SoundCloud combo helps. HypeM aggregates music from forums, so their popular section includes music that are as you guessed, popular, but also you can find a gem and discover a new DJ or band and then follow that artist on HypeM for more updates from them. This is how I found artist like Odesza, Mø, Oh Wonder and Lorde months/year(s) before they started playing on the radio. There is more that I can talk about, but I do want to focus on some of the negative experiences I have had on SoundCloud. My main issue, which actually sparked me to write this review is that the songs I have saved for offline play will somehow revert back to an unsaved state, and this is happening with more frequency. This is infuriating when I’m in the subway and find out I can’t listen to music underground. I have to go download all my music again, which doesn’t take too long, but it’s annoying that I would have to repeat the process. It’s a waste of time when you want to be out. It is also annoying when I occasionally get a message saying that the saving process stopped, because app was closed, but the app is still open. I read on the Support page that if you uninstall the app or sign-out, the music you saved for offline will be removed, so I wonder if the app is signing me out without me knowing, which causes all my downloads to be removed? There are also stability issues, where the app will crash on me. I haven’t counted how many times, but my guess is 3 to 4 times a week. Also, it would be nice if there was a way to email support from the app. Seems difficult to report issues. Overall, I still am a huge fan of SoundCloud and would recommend.

I’ve always loved SoundCloud, and I’ve never felt the need to review it, but this problem was so major to me that I took away a star from this review. Ever since I updated the app, every time I like a song, it automatically logs me out. I’m so done with it that I don’t even feel like signing back in anymore. Sometimes I’ll open the app, and I’ll already be logged out. Please fix this.

It’s aight but easy af to hack

I literally never write reviews but yall have wrecked your app so bad I had to say something. You guys literally have the opportunity to have the hottest app on the market. If you made SoundCloud a little more social, like sending songs within the app, or even made it slightly more like a social media platform you guys would cash out. I dont care about you blowing up I care about yall having money so your app doesnt run like a fat horse with a broken leg. Love what yall are doing otherwise pls dont go under

A loop feature.

This app never seemed to work properly to be quite honest. It’s slow, randomly crashes and overall just frustrating to use. Once in a blue moon you guys release a new update that actually fixes some problems but then you release another update that overrides that semi-stable version with a worse version?¿?¿ I BEG you to please make the next update fully functional. These bugs are re-occurring and it’s making me really upset because I love using SoundCloud on my laptop with no issues.

The app used to be great, but ever since a recent update it has performed very poorly. I can barely launch the app, and it hasnt worked properly for some time now. I have to wait around thirty seconds for a song tbats saved on my phone to play, and even then there is a high chance that the app will crash. Please find a fix and the rating will go back to five stars.
